Capitalist has capped an outstanding 2025/26 racing season by claiming the title of Australia’s leading sire by individual winners.
The Newgate Farm stallion entered the final day of the season locked in a close battle for top honours before two new winners secured the title, taking Capitalist’s season tally to 171 individual Australian winners from 346 runners.
This equates to an outstanding 49.4 per cent winners-to-runners strike rate for the season, with almost one in every two Capitalist runners finding the winner’s stall.
The youngest stallion among the season’s top five sires by winners, Capitalist has continued to build an impressive record since being crowned Champion First Season Sire by winners in 2021 and Champion Second Season Sire by winners in 2022.
His progression has been remarkably consistent:
Capitalist now joins an elite honour roll of stallions to have led Australia by individual winners, following the recent dominance of champion sires I Am Invincible and Zoustar.
A Golden Slipper-winning two-year-old himself, Capitalist has established a reputation for producing fast, precocious and highly commercial racehorses. He has sired 62 stakes horses, including Group 1 winners CAPTIVANT and RESERVE BANK, while boasting a 13 per cent stakes horses-to-runners strike rate.
His growing influence is also extending to the next generation, with his young sire sons Profiteer and Captivant both producing their first winners during the 2025/26 season.

We were delighted, alongside Group 1 Thoroughbreds, to secure a strong, athletic colt by Capitalist from the Group 2 winning two-year-old Frolic for $200,000 at the Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale.
This is a pedigree built on speed and juvenile performance. Frolic earned more than $1 million during her racing career, notably finishing second behind Champion Filly She Will Reign in the Group 1 Golden Slipper, while the family features an abundance of stakes-performing two-year-olds.
Physically, he is a powerful colt with plenty of strength and athleticism. He looks a sharp, forward type capable of getting up and going early, while still possessing the scope to continue developing into his three-year-old season.
He was raised and offered by Newhaven Park, a farm renowned for producing high-quality racehorses, and we believe he represented fantastic value at his purchase price.
With Capitalist finishing the season as Australia’s leading sire by winners and continuing to produce talented juveniles year after year, this colt presents an exciting opportunity to race a well-bred horse with all the attributes to make an early impact.
