First Winner for Newgate Farm shuttler State of Rest

Newgate shuttler STATE OF REST is on the board with his first winner after talented filly Anad scored a dazzling last-to-first victory on debut at Wolverhampton in the UK overnight.

Trained by Karl Burke, Anad was sent off favourite for the 1400m juvenile contest and unleashed a brilliant finish to charge home and score, becoming the first winner for the Cox Plate-winning son of STARSPANGLEDBANNER.

STATE OF REST is one of the most accomplished international performers to shuttle to Australia in recent years, winning four Group 1 races in four different countries. His first Australian runners are due to hit the track next season, with his yearlings proving popular in the sale ring and selling for up to $425,000.

We are delighted to have the first STATE OF REST colt in our stable.

A gorgeous colt brimming with class, scope and purpose, he moves with intent, has plenty of length and has just the right amount of spunk.

He is out of River Goddess, a NORTHERN METEOR mare and half-sister to NZ Derby winner CROWN PROSECUTOR. River Goddess herself won four races over 1400–1600m, and this colt looks ideally suited to follow a Derby path.

He has continued to impress throughout his education and is developing into a lovely prospect for his owners. We have been delighted with his progress to date and look forward to seeing him continue to mature over the coming months.
