Russian Revolution received another timely boost at Flemington on Saturday when his talented daughter LARA ANTIPOVA defeated the colts in the Listed Mike Moroney Stakes (1400m).
The Australian-bred filly was undefeated throughout her juvenile campaign in New Zealand, earning Champion Two-Year-Old honours and becoming a Group 1 winner.
After an unplaced first-up run in the Group 3 Quezette Stakes, Lara Antipova quickly returned to her best at Flemington. Ridden by Mark Zahra, she enjoyed an economical run along the rail before bursting through an opening and holding off the fast-finishing Aragog by three-quarters of a length.
The victory took her record to five wins from seven starts and her earnings to just shy of $600,000.
A dual Group 1-winning son of Snitzel, RUSSIAN REVOLUTION continues to establish himself as an exciting source of speed and precocity. Lara Antipova is one of his three Group 1 winners alongside Communist and our very own Libertad, with his progeny continuing to perform at the highest level.
Her latest success provides another timely endorsement for our RUSSIAN REVOLUTION x IMPETUOUS filly, in whom opportunities are still available.
Out of stakes-winning Fastnet Rock mare IMPETUOUS, she is a quality physical with an outstanding pedigree and was purchased for just $120,000.
